What is the Omega De Ville?

The Omega De Ville was first introduced by Omega is 1960. Some of the earlier Omega De Ville models were taken from the Omega Seamaster range. The first versions of the Omega De Ville were fitted in a monocoque (one-piece) case. This can only be opened by having a watchmaker remove the bezel and crown. Once this is done, the movement then comes out the front as the case was all one piece.

In 1963, Omega made the first Omega Seamaster De Ville. This was done as per the request from the American agent for Omega, Norman Morris. He liked the combination of the elegant look, as well as the design feature of the monocoque case, and this quickly became a very successful model for Omega. This remained until 1967, when Omega dropped the word “Seamaster” from the dial, and soley branded these as the Omega De Ville.

Made as an elegant dress watch, the Omega DeVille has remained a classic ever since.

Where can I service my Omega watch?

When we expanded and renovated our store in late 2022, we put in not only a full watchmaking and polishing workshop, but two watchmakers. Our head watchmaker, Lorenzo Del Rosso, used to used to work for Tag Heuer, LVMH and then Rolex, before coming to Kalmar Antiques. We also now an authorised Omega watch service centre. This allows us to be able to service your Omega watch to full Omega specifications.

Along with Omega watches, we can service other watches such as Longines, Breitling, Cartier and Patek Philippe to name a few.

How often should I service my Omega?

As per official OMEGA guidelines, the service frequency depends on the use of the watch and the environment in which it is worn. The water resistance can, for example, be affected by the aging of the gaskets or by an accidental shock. Therefore, we recommend that you have the water resistance checked once a year and a complete service performed every 5 to 8 years.

Kalmar Antiques are now an authorised OMEGA watch service centre. We are based in the heart of Sydney in the Queen Victoria Building.

Should I take my watch to an authorised OMEGA service centre?

Taking your watch to an authorised OMEGA watch service centre such as Kalmar Antiques, will ensure that not only is your watch serviced to the highest standards, but only genuine Omega parts are used. This will also allow the watch to be covered by a two year warranty.
