Rare signed Rhoda Wager silver brooch dating from the 1930’s
$0.00
It is so lovely to find early Australian jewellery from Rhoda wager, and here is a very beautiful and rare signed Rhoda Wager silver brooch dating from the 1930’s that measures an astonishing 9.2cm in length.
Rhoda Wager was one of Australia’s leading jewellers of the early 20th century, producing beautiful pieces often in silver that had a very natural flowing style as can be seen here in this brooch.
Made in sterling silver, it is set with mabe pearl in the centre. Also known as blister pearls, these are produced as a section of the oyster shell itself, rather than from an irritant inside the oyster which produces a traditional pearl. The lovely lustre on this mabe pearl is still so vibrant and accentuates the silver beautifully. Measuring 1.7cm wide at the centre, the reverse side is signed “Wager†and this is really a way that you can wear a piece of Australian history that is not only important, but equally as beautiful.
This is a lovely and hard to find signed brooch by the famous Australian artist Rhoda Wager.
