Rolex Submariner reference 16800 transitional model

Perfect for any collector, or anyone who is after a collectable yet robust and wearable Rolex Submariner is this Rolex Submariner reference 16800 transitional model.

While what may at first appearance look like a regular Rolex 16610, this is the Rolex 16800 which was the first Rolex Submariner model to be fitted with the sapphire crystal and high beat movement.

What this meant, is that it could now be rated to go to a depth of 300 meters as opposed to the earlier models that were rated for 200 meters, and this upgraded Rolex calibre was now at 28,800 BPH (beats per hour) as opposed to the earlier models of 19,800 BPH, giving now a great accuracy and reliability than earlier movements and the 28,800 BPH is now a worldwide industry standard showing how important Rolex are in the watch world.

Hard to see in the photos and really best seen side by side a Rolex 16610, this Rolex 16800 has the slightly more matte dial as opposed to the gloss dial giving that look and start of the vintage patina so desired by Rolex collectors the world over.

Fitted in the traditional 39mm Rolex Oyster case and on the Rolex Oyster band which itself is in great condition, the movement has been completely serviced and comes with our twelve month warranty.

A great iconic Rolex Submariner with subtle yet major differences and so easily able to be worn all the time always look and feel so smart on the wrist.
