Here is a magnificent solid black opal and diamond ring that was handmade by our Master Jeweller as well as using our own gold colour.
Handmade in platinum and our own 18 carat Kalmar Yellowrose gold, it is best to take a moment to explain what this gold is.
Gold can be made into a combination of different carats such as 9 and 18 carat gold and colour by adding other alloys into the gold when molten. For example, adding more or less copper will make the gold a rose or pink colour, silver among other white alloys will produce white gold. Then when there is 75% gold in the alloy, it is 18 carat gold and when 37.5% gold, it is 9 carat gold. Knowing all of this, a few years ago our Master Jeweller who hand made this ring, created our own very own 18 carat Kalmar Yellowrose gold that has the most magnificent and incredible soft yellow to rose colour that looks amazing on the skin. The colour of this gold has such an incredible warm tone to it, and is truly unlike standard rose gold nor yellow gold, and sits in colour in the middle, hence our name for it, “Kalmar Yellowrose”.
Then sitting proudly in the centre is that magnificent solid black Lighting Ridge opal. Lighting Ridge opals are regarded as the best in the world, and the spectral colours that can be seen in this ring exemplify just why they are regarded as the best of the best. Measuring 4.44 carats, this is such a beautiful opal, and matched perfectly with the Yellowrose gold and platinum.
Entirely handmade in a style of yesteryear, the ring is highlighted by a single cut diamond on each side which like the style and design of the ring, is a nod to antique designs and cuts of diamonds rarely seen today.
With such incredible detail on each shoulder, this is taken one step further with the gorgeous scroll work on the sides.
