Vintage 1952 Omega Seamaster

Since its release in 1948, the Omega Seamaster has remained one of their most iconic watches, and here is a stunning example of a vintage Omega Seamaster that looks truly incredible on the wrist.

Made in 1952, the watch is made in a 14 carat gold capped case that is still in superb condition, even with the Omega Seamaster observation logo on the back in wonderful condition.

Measuring 35mm across plus the Omega crown, thanks to its larger than normal bezel, don't think that this watch will look small on your wrist, as it looks so much larger than a standard 35mm watch. And thanks to the stunning dial, this is truly a beautiful example of a vintage Omega Seamaster.

The dial has achieved the most wonderful patina, and has what some call the "Explorer" dial as is has index markers, but importantly 12, 3 and 9 numbers. And then to make this an even more sought after and hard to find model, the date is at the 6 o'clock position, rather than at 3. With those truly gorgeous index markers and centre sweep second hand, this is one watch that looks so elegant and smart on the wrist.

Then there is the movement inside which is just as breathtaking. Affectionately called a "bumper automatic" this is the first generation of automatic movements made by Omega where the rotor instead of rotating a full 360 degrees, goes back and forth against the solid plate, resulting in a wonderful "bump" as it moves and winds the watch. Fitted with the 17 jewelled Omega calibre 355, that has just been serviced by our Omega certified watchmaker, it runs beautifully and comes with our twenty four month warranty. Not only are we an authorised Omega watch service centre, but our in-house watchmakers can service your Omega watch as well as other brands, so please feel free to bring in your watch or pocket watch for a free quote.

This watch is the epitome of a classic vintage Omega Seamaster that will always be treasured.

What is the Omega Seamaster?

A brief history of the Omega Seamaster:

First released in 1948 which was also Omega's 100th Anniversary, the Omega Seamaster was designed to be a robust watch while still being very elegant making it one of the world's first watches that could be worn with a suit and tie as well as a wet suit in an age where blue collar watches and white collar watches never overlapped.

The Omega Seamaster was in fact born as a result of World War II where the British were after a watch with superior reliability and water resistance with very high precision.

After the war the Omega Seamaster became known as the watch to have on your wrist and one that would never let you down. This is a testament to the classic vintage Omega Seamaster watches that we have on offer.

Where can I service my Omega watch?

When we expanded and renovated our store in late 2022, we put in not only a full watchmaking and polishing workshop, but two watchmakers. Our head watchmaker, Lorenzo Del Rosso, used to used to work for Tag Heuer, LVMH and then Rolex, before coming to Kalmar Antiques. We also now an authorised Omega watch service centre. This allows us to be able to service your Omega watch to full Omega specifications.

Along with Omega watches, we can service other watches such as Longines, Breitling, Cartier and Patek Philippe to name a few.

How often should I service my Omega?

As per official OMEGA guidelines, the service frequency depends on the use of the watch and the environment in which it is worn. The water resistance can, for example, be affected by the aging of the gaskets or by an accidental shock. Therefore, we recommend that you have the water resistance checked once a year and a complete service performed every 5 to 8 years.

Kalmar Antiques are now an authorised OMEGA watch service centre. We are based in the heart of Sydney in the Queen Victoria Building.

Should I take my watch to an authorised OMEGA service centre?

Taking your watch to an authorised OMEGA watch service centre such as Kalmar Antiques, will ensure that not only is your watch serviced to the highest standards, but only genuine Omega parts are used. This will also allow the watch to be covered by a two year warranty.
