The popularity and desire for vintage Rolex watches has skyrocketed and this is no longer just for the sports models such as the Submariner and GMT, but also the true classic Rolex watches, such as the Rolex 1601, and here is wonderful example with a beautiful dial.
This iconic model was made in 1972 and measures 36mm across and was made in stainless steel and fitted with the white gold bezel.
With the sought after "pie-pan" dial which can be seen at edge of the dial where it bends down, the dial is still so easy and clean to read day or night.
Fitted on its original stainless steel Rolex Jubilee band, inside the watch is powered by the 25 jewelled automatic Rolex calibre 1575 this Rolex has just come back from being serviced by our in-house watchmaker who himself used to work for Rolex, and of course the watch runs perfect, and comes with our 2-year warranty. Having our own watchmaker on site in our brand new state of the art watchmaking workshop, allows us to be able to service the watches all on site without having to send them interstate or overseas which is the trend lately. Not only are we able to service our watches, but please bring your watch or pocket watch in for us to provide you with a free quote for us to service it.
This is a fantastic example of a vintage Rolex 1601 that will always be admired on the wrist.

Vintage 1972 Rolex 1601
Vintage 1972 Rolex 1601. This Rolex has just been serviced by our in-house watchmaker who used to work for Rolex. It is fitted with automatic Rolex calibre 1575.
Kalmar Antiques now employ a Rolex trained watchmaker on site!
When we expanded and renovated our store in late 2022, we put in not only a full watchmaking and polishing workshop, but a watchmaker who used to work for Rolex for nearly seven years. This allows us to be able to service your Rolex to Rolex standards, as well as other watch brands such as Omega, Cartier and Patek Philippe to name a few.
The Rolex calibre 1575 was released in 1965 and used until 1974. It is a certified chronometer movement (COSC) automatic movement with 26 jewels. With a 48 hour power reserve, it is fitted with a Kif Ultraflex shock system and a free-sprung Breguet hairspring.
The 1575 series of movements was used for the Rolex Datejust, the Rolex Date 1500, the Rolex Explorer, and the Rolex Submariner and Rolex GMT Master.
The Rolex 1570 series of movements (including not only the Rolex 1570, but also the 1575), have long been regarded as one of their finest movements.
We recommend to service your Rolex every five years. If you wear the watch in water, we strongly suggest having your Rolex watch, or any watch for that matter, pressure tested once a year.
