Antique French bronze clock by Farcot depicting Chinese fire dogs.
Here is a truly exceptional antique bronze time and strike clock that not only sounds so beautiful when it strikes the hours and half hours, but looks truly amazing and is like no other. To begin with the subject nature is wonderful and the depiction and craftsmanship that went into making this with so much detail is truly extraordinary. The detail in the fire dogs themselves, as well as the clock and the base will have you admiring it from near or far, and to make it even more special, it was all made out of bronze as opposed to the more commonly seen spelter. While many antique clocks were made of spelter, bronze has been and still is regarded as the far superior metal that has been used for centuries in not just clocks, but of course world famous sculptures such as The Thinker by Rodin and of course David by Donatello. The patina of this clock is just magical and along with the subject matter will make sure that is always gets the attention and admiration that it so rightly deserves. Measuring 38cm across by 35cm deep it stands 22cm tall and will sit perfectly on any mantle, desk or pedestal and when it strikes on each hour and half hour with the most delicate "ping" you will fall in love with this clock even more. With the dial displaying Chinese numerals that are as clear today as when it was made, inside is a beautiful fully restored 8 day movement by Farcot that runs perfectly and comes with our twelve month warranty. This is a clock truly like no other. Stock# W8513 Circa: 1880 Maker: (Movement) Henri-Eugène-Adrien Farcot $11,800 (Price is for the clock only - additional costs may apply for delivery.
