Large antique mine cut diamond earrings set in new settings
The mine cut diamond is the first true brilliant cut diamond that was developed at the start of the 18th century. This wonderful cut has fifty eight facets like a modern round brilliant cut diamond, but different angles as weight retention was paramount when cutting diamonds all those years ago, and this often resulted in the mine cut diamond having a gorgeous squarish shape to them giving rise to the term “cushion cut diamonds”.
By far on of the most sought after cut of diamonds today, even though modern diamond houses in Antwerp and India are cutting modern mine cut diamonds, the diamonds set into these earrings are all genuine antique diamonds from a bygone era.
The diamonds measure 1.50 carats and 1.56 carats bringing the total to an impressive 3.06 carats and they are both L in colour and Vs and Si in clarity. Antique earrings made in the 1880’s and set with pearls
These earrings were made in 18 carat gold in the 1880's and have such a regal look to them that will have them being admired from near of far every time that they are worn.

A demi parure is the term given to a matching suite of jewellery such as this demi parure brooch and earring set that was made in the Victorian era in the 1870's.
So exquisite to admire from near or far, the brooch and earrings were made in 15 carat gold, with the the colour of the gold having such a beautiful warm glow to it that highlights the intricate detail on both the brooch and earrings.

Antique untreated Ceylonese sapphire and diamond earrings
The sapphires in these earrings are not only magnificent in both size and colour, but are also unheat treated Ceylonese sapphires making them even more special and amazing to admire.
For centuries it was known that if a sapphire or ruby was placed into a fire it will improve its colour and clarity, and although the technology in doing this has now changed, people have been heat treating sapphires and rubies ever since for this reason. This treatment is worldwide accepted as a normal treatment and not deceiving in any way and is accepted as a standard treatment for sapphires and rubies as it remains stable and does not damage the stone.
However it is much more exciting when the sapphires or rubies have not undergone any treatment and still display such a fantastic colour and transparency such as those that are set into these earrings. For centuries Ceylonese sapphires have been regarded as the best in the world, and these truly exemplify this.
Hand made in 18 carat yellow gold and platinum, the two sapphires total an impressive 3.75 carats and display such a magnificent royal blue colour. The colour of these sapphires is absolutely captivating and they have such an intense depth of colour that put these up there with some of the finest Ceylonese sapphires around.
Each earring is surrounded by ten European cut diamonds with the twenty diamonds coming together to total an impressive 2.80 carats. The diamonds highlight the sapphire perfectly and the sparkle emanating from them in just incredible and showcase that wonderful charm of antique diamonds that were cut by hand all those years ago.
Measuring 12.3mm across by 13.6mm, the earring are fitted with secure lever back fittings that allow each earring to sit perfectly on the ear.

Gorgeous 1.33 carat antique mine cut diamond stud earrings
There is something so special about genuine antique cut diamonds and here are a very beautiful and elegant pair of antique diamonds that look absolutely stunning and are perfect for any occasion.

The mine cut diamond was first created at the start of the 1700's and is also affectionately called cushion cut diamonds, as even though they are cut round, the have a somewhat squarish shape resembling a cushion.
