Rare antique enamel and ruby bangle made in France in the 1870’s
Here is a bangle of unparalleled beauty and design, something so truly beautiful that it can easily be said that this is a one off and so hard to find anything remotely similar. Not only was this hand made in France in the 1870's in 18 carat yellow gold, but the extraordinary design of this bangle allows it to be worn more as a cuff close to the skin as it is wider at the back than at the front allowing it to sit so nice and secure against the wrist. And then to showcase the quality of craftsmanship that went into making this bangle, when the clasp slides in, it can stop at two different points allowing it to be worn securely closed completely or slight apart. Running along the edge is the most elegant black and white enamel that stands out so well against the rich yellow from the gold and this beautiful enamel is then repeated around the centre where it is set with a 0.40 carat natural ruby, as well as being used once again on the back of the bangle where the catch to open the bangle is. And then to complete this amazing bangle, covering the bangle completely is the most exquisite and detailed hand engraving that would have taken hours upon hours to complete and made all the more astonishing to think that not only was this done 150 years ago, but it was all by hand as opposed to using a modern drill to do the work. On or off the wrist, looking at it near or far there is no doubt that this is one of the finest antique bangles that has ever been made and is a true masterpiece to hold, wear, admire and pass through the family and down the generations.
