This brooch is so beautiful from the spectral colours given off from the opal doublet in the centre, to the stunning design that was made in rose and yellow gold.
Dating from the 1930's, the opal doublet in the centre shows such strong colours from red to blue and is sure to capture the eye day or night. Set into a setting that measures 6.7cm across, the setting was made in 9 carat rose and yellow gold with the use of the two different colours of gold, really accentuating the opal as well as the design itself.

Art Deco enamel parrot jabot pin set with natural pearls
The jabot pin jabot pin was first made in the 18th century and were actually worn by men to secure the ruffled lace at the front of their shirts, called a "jabot". Differing from a brooch, in that they are worn with each side showing and the fabric visible between the two ends, and they became very popular during the Art Deco period of the 1920's to the 1940's, when this one was made.
Made in 15 carat gold in the 1920's, the jabot pin measures 6.1cm in length and looks absolutely amazing thanks to not only the form of the parrots sitting at each end, but the wonderful and vibrant enamel that is highlighted with a natural pearl in each. The detail is just amazing and so wonderful to admire, and when worn, there is little doubt that this will always be loved and admired.
