The red and white colours used in this vintage butterfly make such a wonderful stark contrast that will make this brooch always be admired from near or far. Made by the Danish jeweller Volmer Bahner in the mid-1960’s in sterling silver, the brooch measures 42.3mm across by 28.6mm, and the enamel technique used is called guilloché enamel. This technique is done when a very precise and repetitive pattern is engraved into an underlying material silver and then the enamel applied over the top. After the firing process is completed, it is polished back to a high lustre revealing the engraved pattern below the surface, revealing a wonderful pattern emphasised by the enamel. Perfect for any occasion, this enamel brooch will no doubt always be loved and cherished.
