Sitting perfectly around the neck, this 15ct tourmaline and pearl necklace by Duggin Shappere and Co is destined to always be admired and commented on for its beauty and elegance.
Duggin Shappere and Co were a prolific and highly regarded early Australian jewellery company that produced beautiful jewellery such as this necklace. Made in 15ct rose gold at the start of the 1900’s, the necklace is designed in such an elegant way. With the symmetry of the recently passed Victorian era, as well as the flowing designs that change in width as seen on the outer edge where three pearls are set which is typical of Art Nouveau jewellery, this pendant is as unique as it is beautiful.
Set with five green tourmalines in the pendant with a further one at the top, the strong green colour really stands out and is complimented further by the twenty six natural seed pearls in the pendant and again a further two at the top with the tourmaline.
The way the lower tourmaline sways adds to that fluidity of the Art Nouveau era and adds that extra femininity to this piece.
From the top tourmaline to the lower one, this distance measures 70.8mm or from the top tourmaline on the pendant itself to the bottom, 45.6mm by 31.2mm wide, and laid out from end to end the chain measures 40cm in length.
No matter the occasion that this wonderful antique pendant is worn, it is one that will always capture the eyes from everyone in the room.
