The Art Nouveau period was from the late 19th Century to the early 20th Century and resulted in the creation of a style that was all unto itself taking much inspiration from nature with very feminine and free flowing designs that was used in paintings, sculptures, architecture and of course jewellery such as can be seen here in this delightful antique Art Nouveau photo locket dating from around 1895.
Made in 18ct yellow gold, this round locket has the most beautiful flowing design on the front with a floral design of the lily of the valley flower that is easily seen as being inspired from nature with its form and asymmetrical pattern typical of the Art Nouveau jewellery of this era as opposed to the symmetry of the Victorian style that occurred during the same time.
The locket measures 25.9mm across, and is made to hold a round photo inside of a loved one.
