In recent years, many rubies have come on the market that are glass filled or lead filled, which is a technique to improve the colour and clarity of a ruby. However these rubies are unstable and can easily crack in a few years so it is always much better to get a ruby that has not been treated in this way such as in this ring.
Set in 18ct yellow gold, the oval ruby measures 0.64 carats and is surrounded by 16 round brilliant cut diamonds.
