Most cameos are carved from shell and while this is usually no problems for cameo brooches and earrings it is a somewhat soft material so care has to be taken when it is in a ring, so here is a wonderful antique cameo ring hand carved from agate.
Agate is part of the quartz family and is much harder and cameos carved from agate are often called or referred to as hard stone cameos for this reason.
This antique cameo ring was hand made in the early 1900's in 9ct rose gold. The colour of the rose gold is so soft and elegant and matches so well with the two colours seen in the cameo.
The cameo itself is of a mans head in profile in and the setting around it measures 9.6mm by 12.4mm and has the milgrain finish around the edge of the setting.
Perfect for any occasion or finger, this is such an attractive antique cameo ring.
