The retro era for jewellery was at its height in the 1950's and resulted in some truly spectacular pieces of jewellery being made such as this retro era aquamarine pendant that converts into a brooch.
Hand made in 18ct rose gold, rose gold was a popular choice for retro jewellery and has a wonderful natural "warm" colour to it as it is a very soft rose colour and looks magnificent in jewellery.
This piece is set with a magnificent aquamarine measures 22.3mmwide by 16.9mm long which is equal to an impressive 34 carats. The colour of the aquamarine is such a perfect blue and looks so well set into the rose gold.
Another characteristic of retro jewellery is the large bold designs which can be seen with the beautiful rose gold scroll design at the top which really sets this piece off even more.
Making this piece even more practical is the ability to have the choice to wear it as either a brooch or a pendant and so smartly made, the bail completely folds down when this is worn as a brooch and typical of the retro era to add some more pizazz, the bail is set with a 0.08ct diamond.
The piece itself measures 34.6mm across by 37.6mm with the bow up or 33.2mm with the bow down.
The scroll work all around the setting of the aquamarine shows the high quality that was put into in creating this magnificent aquamarine piece and this is a fantastic example of retro jewellery at its finest.
