1969 Rolex Explorer 1016

One of the most sought after vintage Rolex models would have to be the very stylish Rolex Explorer I 1016, and here is a wonderful example dating from 1969.

With its iconic “3,6,9” dial, the matte dial is all original and looks fantastic day or night and is beautifully complimented by the smooth bezel on the outside. The hands are vintage Rolex serviced hands, meaning they have been replaced with genuine Rolex hands due to the original ones being damaged. As we have a Rolex trained watchmaker onsite, as well as vintage Rolex parts, this allows us be able to restore vintage Rolex watches along with other brands in a way that is befitting a watch of this age and calibre.

Then it is also fitted on its original stainless steel Rolex Oyster band that feels so comfortable on the wrist. So many of these early 1016 watches have later Rolex Oyster bands fitted, and while there is nothing inherently wrong with having a later band, finding one that is all original makes this watch even more special.

Inside the watch is powered by the 26 jewelled automatic Rolex calibre 1570 that has just been serviced by our own in-house watchmaker and comes complete with our two year warranty. Having our own watchmaker on site in our brand new state of the art watchmaking workshop, allows us to be able to service the watches all on site without having to send them interstate or overseas which is the trend lately.
