Antique cameo rings have really come back into fashion in recent years, and here is a fantastic 19th Century cameo ring that looks magnificent on the finger and is destined to always be admired.
Hand made in 18ct gold in the 1890's, this wonderful example of an antique cameo ring has the advantage of the cameo itself being hand carved from sardonyx which is also called a "hardstone" cameo thanks to its hardness compared to that of a more traditional shell cameo.
Shell cameos are the traditional material used for cameos and there is not problem wearing them everyday if they are a brooch or earring, but when they are set into rings more care must be taken, whereas a hardstone cameo has of course the advantage of being more durable and are more suited for rings.
This gorgeous antique cameo ring truly has all the charm and character of a genuine hand carved cameo and the being surrounded by natural pearls really adds to its style.
Being lozenge shaped means it sits so well on the finger and really accentuates the finger. From end to end the ring measures 16.1mm in length by 7.8mm across.
The cameo itself is of a very elegant maiden and is so delightful to admire.
Surrounded by 18 pearls and set on an elegant rounded band makes the style of this antique cameo ring so easy to wear all the day on its own or along side other antique rings.
This is a very beautiful and charming antique cameo ring that will always be admired and appreciated.
