Antique Colombian emerald and diamond ring

Colombian emeralds have long been regarded as the finest in the world, thanks to their intense green colour and excellent transparency, all of which can be seen here in this antique Colombian emerald and diamond ring.
Dating from the 1890's Victorian era the ring was hand made in 18ct yellow gold and has the most incredible scroll work on the side. The level of attention given to this ring is matched in the quality of both the emeralds and the diamonds set into the ring.
Starting with the three natural emeralds, they are of the finest quality with everything that is desired in a Colombian emerald.
The colour of the emeralds are the intense green that is so highly prized. This colour alone shows why Colombian emeralds are so highly regarded. Combine this with excellent transparency that allows you to see right through the emeralds, and this is yet another reason for their continued popularity. And finally with all emeralds come natural inclusions and in a fine quality emerald the inclusion level is low which again highlights the quality of these emeralds.
And then there are the two main diamonds set on each side of the centre emerald, and looking closely you will see there are an additional eight rose cut diamonds to add that extra sparkle and charm to an already incredible ring.
The emeralds total 1.30 carats in weight and the diamonds 1.10 carats and from one side across to the other, this distance measures 20mm by6mm at the centre.
Looking at the side of the ring shows the incredible scroll work design that itself is just spectacular to admire and a real testament to the quality of hand making this ring over a century ago.
From all angles, day or night, this antique emerald and diamond ring is just spectacular.

Description

Antique Colombian emerald and diamond ring made in 18ct yellow gold in the late Victorian era of the 1890's. A brief history of Colombian emeralds: For over 4,000 years Colombia has been home to the world's finest emeralds. Today, Colombia still accounts for between 70 to 90% of the world's emerald supply. Geologically speaking, Colombian emeralds are found in sedimentary rocks rather than igneous resulting in a fine green colour with excellent transparency. While all natural emeralds will have inclusions, a fine quality Colombian emerald will have less than those from other countries as well as excellent transparency allowing you to see right through the stone. Combine this with an intense green, and it is easy to see why Colombian emeralds have been regarded so highly throughout the ages. The scroll work on the side of this ring is sometimes referred to as a London Bridge setting which highlights the quality of this ring.
