Here are a pair of exquisite antique diamond drop earrings that were made in Russia in the 1890's and look as spectacular today as when they were made over 130 years ago.
Hand made in 14 carat gold and silver, the reason why silver was used is that white gold was not yet invented and platinum, although already discovered, was not used in jewellery until around the same time as white gold.
The top two European cut diamonds total 0.29 carats and the lower two European cut diamonds total 1.72 carats, bringing the total weight to 2.01 carats. Not only are the diamonds claw set to allow the maximum amount of light to enter into the diamonds, but there is the most wonderful scalloped design behind each diamond that maximises the light even further.
Each earring measures 7.3mm across at the bottom by 21.7mm to the very top of the secure lever back fittings, and these earrings as you would imagine, sit perfectly on the ear and look sensational day or night.
Bearing Russian hallmarks and genuine antique European cut diamonds, these earrings are truly spectacular and will no doubt always be admired for their elegance and grace.
