So elegant and typical of jewellery from the mid-Victorian era comes this antique garnet and diamond locket pendant dating from the 1870's that will always be admired from near or far.
Hand made in 18 carat yellow gold and silver, the reason that silver was used to set the diamonds into was that it was known that the yellow from the gold could artificially tint the diamonds yellow and as white gold was not yet invented and platinum was not used in jewellery until about the same time as white gold in the early 1900's, silver was used.
The pendant is set with three oval cabochon cut garnets that have such a wonderful intense burgundy red colour to them and are highlighted by twelve rose cut diamonds.
Measuring 24.4mm across by 29.9mm, turning the pendant over reveals a locket compartment to put the photo of a loved one to then make this so much more personal and special.
Perfect for any occasion, this is a stunning example of mid-Victorian jewellery at its finest.
