Mizpah jewellery is one that is steeped in history and so romantic and wonderful.
Here we have a Mizpah brooch made in 1897 in sterling silver and highlighted with rose and green gold.
Green gold was only used for a short time in the 1890's and was made by adding cadmium as an alloy to produce a wonderful soft green colour that has been used here in the leaf designs.
The brooch itself measures 4.5cm across by 2.6cm at its widest part and is engraved with the verse, "The Lord watch between me and thee while we are absent one from another" as well as having the word "Mizpah" in that wonderful font in the centre.
This antique Mizpah brooch is so beautiful and it really is wearing a piece of history.
