Here is such an elegant antique mourning ring that was made in 1858 and set with a natural piece of onyx that looks so beautiful on the finger.
Made in 18 carat gold, the top section is set with an oval piece of onyx that still shows its natural white band. Commonly the white band that is found naturally in onyx is either cut out or dyed black, however with this piece showing the natural white band, it adds such an elegant look and feature to the ring. Combine this with the elegant engraving on the sides, and you have a ring that looks so beautiful on the finger.
Measuring 12.6mm by 10.4mm across, inside the band it is engraved “Ob 9th August 1858 Ae 48†as well as being fully hallmarked for being made in 1858.
Both poignant and beautiful, this antique mourning ring is still such an amazing piece of jewellery even well after 160 years has passed.
