Return to Previous Page

Antique opal and diamond ring made in London in 1910.

This antique opal and diamond ring was hand made in 18 carat yellow gold. Set with three solid Australian opals, Australia produces between 90 to 95% of the worlds opal. Regarded as the home of the finest opals in the world, the opals set in this ring are solid white opals from Coober Pedy. Set with four European cut diamonds, the European cut diamond has the same number of facets as today’s round brilliant cut diamonds, but with slightly steeper angles. Becoming increasingly popular for engagement rings, the European cut diamond as well as the earlier mine cut diamond as well as the rose cut diamond, these are all now both being cut in modern diamond cutting houses in Antwerp and India.
