Antique opal, ruby and pearl pendant that converts to a brooch

Here is a very elegant antique opal, ruby and pearl pendant that converts to a brooch so easily making it so versatile to wear on different occasions.

Dating from the early 1900's, this was made in 9ct rose gold which matches so well with the spectral colours coming from the four solid white Australian opals. With three of them set in the centre surrounding a ruby, there is one more opal suspended from the bottom. With the addition of twenty two pearls to highlight the design, there are also a further three on the bail at the top. This bail can be cleverly and easily removed when it is worn as a brooch, which adds such a clever way to make a piece of jewellery even more versatile.

Measuring 25.1mm wide by 47.7mm from the bottom to the very top of the bail or 37.9mm with the bail removed, it truly is such a perfect size to wear all the time as either a pendant or a brooch.
