Starting in the late 19th century the suffragette movement was pivotal in giving among other things voting rights for women and was represented by the colour green, white and violet as can be seen here in this charming antique suffragette brooch.
Dating from the Edwardian era of the early 1900's, this suffragette brooch was made in 9ct rose gold and is set with a peridot and amethyst and then surrounded by seed pearls with a further bow design on the top set with more seed pearls.
In total there are 50 pearls which compliment the amethyst and peridot so well.
From end to end the brooch measures 36.6mm across by 14.1mm wide at the centre
Not only does this antique brooch look so elegant and refined, it is also an example of an antique brooch that has so much historical significance attached to it.
