A regard ring is a form of acrostic jewellery where the first letter of each gemstone spells out the word "Regard" as can be seen in this terrific example of an antique Regard ring from the Victorian era.
This regard ring was made in 15ct gold around 1880 and the ring is set with a ruby, emerald, garnet, amethyst, ruby and finally a lovely rose cut diamond.
Regard rings were especially popular during the Victorian era and really makes you wonder who owned these rings in the past as they were given with so much love and sentiment.
Antique regard rings are becoming so increasingly hard to find and the setting of this regard ring is stunning and so wonderful to admire both on and off the finger.
The gemstones setting alone is so wonderful, however on the side if the ring are 5 "flower" designs which is very charming and romantic.
From one end to the other the ring measures 19.2mm across by 5.6mm wide and is the perfect size to wear all the time.
The band is also very attractive with a double twist design that tapers down to the end where it has been re-sized at some stage in its life and will make it very easy to re-size again if needed.
Antique regard jewellery, whether it be a regard brooch or ring is one style of jewellery that is so steeped in romance and definitely one of the rarer styles of antique jewellery out there and along with other acrostic rings such as "dearest" or "adore" rings is one that we truly love finding and one piece of jewellery that makes a wonderful talking point and is one of the reasons why we love antique jewellery so much.
