Antique Russian silver has long been sought after by collectors, and here is a magnificent silver antique Russian tea strainer made in 1852 by Carl Gustav Ekqvist.
Measuring 18.2cm in length, the diameter of the tea strainer is 6.2cm and still has its original gilding inside which highlights the pierce working design so well.
Carl Gustav Ekqvist (1800 - 1868) worked in St. Petersburg and his work including that for the Imperial family, so not only is this a very attractive piece of Russian silver, it is also wonderful to be able to trace it to its maker.
This antique Russian tea strainer is so elegant and the pierced work design in its original gilding is still in remarkable condition even after 160 years.
