Antique seals were used for centuries to literally "seal" and envelope with wax that was then impressed with a family crest to prevent it being opened by the unintended and many of the antique seals around are a wonderful piece of jewellery in their own right such as this delightful 15ct gold seal.
Dating from the late 1800's, it is made in the form of two love birds and has such a sweet connotation attached to it.
Making this antique seal even more fabulous is the fact that it is made in 15ct rose and green gold which really makes this seal stand out.
Green gold was not used very often in jewellery and to find jewellery with green gold is simply wonderful and here the colour really stands out so well against the rose gold.
Set to the base of the seal is an oval piece of amethyst and the dimensions of the base are 15.2mm by 13.3mm and the entire height of the seal measures 17.5mm and is the perfect size to wear on a chain.
