Antique sterling silver locket highlighted with green and rose gold

$1,100.00

Here is a gorgeous antique photo locket made in sterling silver in 1882 that is destined to always be loved and admired and is highlighted with not only rose gold, but green gold as well.

For centuries gold has been made in different colours by being alloyed with other metals. Rose gold for example is produced by primarily adding copper to the gold, and in the late-Victorian era, cadmium or silver was added resulting lovely soft green hue to the gold. Although never a strong green such as yellow or white gold, the tone of green in antique pieces was used perfectly to highlight characteristics of the piece such as the leaves in this lovely this locket.

With the gorgeous scroll design around the locket, the inner section has rose gold highlights for the flower and the green for the leaves. With a lovely large bail at the top for a chain to pass through, the locket measures 3.2cm across by 5.4cm to the top of the bail.

On the reverse side, a locket can easily be placed inside making this so much more personal to the wearer, and with the lovely design and use of rose and green gold, this is a wonderful example of just how exciting antique pieces can be.
