Starting in the late 19th century the suffragette movement was pivotal in giving among other things voting rights for women and was represented by the colours green, white and violet as can be seen here in this very beautiful antique suffragette pendant brooch dating from the Edwardian era of the early 1900's.
Set with amethysts (purple), pearls (white) and peridot (green), this shows the three colours that represent the suffragette movement and the setting as well is so elegant and refined.
Able to be worn as either a pendant or a brooch, it was ingeniously made to allow for the pendant section to be removed when worn as a brooch or put back on securely to wear on a chain around the neck.
The pendant measures 25.3mm across at the centre by 64.3mm from the bottom to the top of the bail or 54.5mm when the bail is removed and was made in 15ct rose gold. 15ct gold was only used until the early 1930's and has such a wonderful warm rose colour to it.
No matter how it is worn as either a brooch or a pendant, this antique suffragette piece will always be loved and admired and really is a piece of history that you can wear.
