A lariat is a long necklace often leading to a tassel and was very popular in the Art Deco era of the 1920's to the 1940's and here we have a magnificent Art Deco coral lariat.
Entirely made from natural coral, there are literally thousands of pieces of natural coral all drilled and threaded to make this wonderful lariat that looks astonishing both on and off the neck.
The amount of time that would have been needed to sort all the pieces of coral to shape and size, individually droll each one, then thread it into the design that is seen including the tassel at the bottom would have been unbelievably time consuming and shows how much thought went into creating this Art Deco lariat all those years ago.
Hanging around the neck, the bottom of the tassel will hang to a length equal to 55cm and the way this moves with when you walk is so sensual and elegant and so typical of the fabulous Art Deco era.
Coral today is often stained and dyed whereas this is all completely natural and also feels so tactile rolling through the fingers.
There is nothing like genuine Art Deco jewellery and nothing quite like this incredible Art Deco lariat.
