Jewellery from the Art Deco period of the 1920's to the 1940's resulted in some truly stunning designs, and here is a magnificent hand made Art Deco diamond necklace made in the 1920's in platinum.
Sitting perfectly on the neckline, laid out from end to end, the necklace measures 40cm in length and connects at the centre to an early round brilliant cut diamond that leads from both sides so beautifully to another early brilliant cut diamond. This delightful triangular section is also set with single cut diamonds as does the lower section that leads to the suspended 0.65 carat European cut diamond that captures the light magnificently and allows the eye to capture the wonderful design that has made genuine Art Deco jewellery such as this so sought after even after all these years. Except for the European cut diamond at the bottom which is claw set, all the other diamonds have been elegantly finished with the millgrain setting which can be seen as the crimping along the edge of the setting somewhat similar to the edge of a coin and adds to the romance and character of this piece.
Where the necklace connects to the diamonds on the side, from left to right this distance measures 3cm across and the drop to the bottom of the European cut diamond measures 2.3cm, giving this the perfect proportions to be admired every single time that it is worn.
Art Deco jewellery is so sophisticated, and this piece really exemplifies this.
