Australia has long been regarded as home of the worlds finest opals, and the best of the best is the infamous black opal from Lightning Ridge, and here is a truly spectacular black opal and diamond ring that dates from the equally fabulous Art Deco era of the 1920's.
Hand made in 18 carat white gold and platinum by the Australian jewellery company Hardy Brothers, sitting proud in the centre is one of the most magnificent black opals that you will ever see. With a pattern that is called a rolling butterfly effect, this opal displays the complete spectrum of colours including the most wonderful and vivid red flashes throughout the stone. Measuring 2.70 carats in weight, this opal is simply breathtaking and perfectly suited to sit in such an elegant setting. From every angle this opal is spectacular and one that will always amaze you when you look at it on your finger.
Set with three single cut diamonds on each side that step down towards the band, the diamonds total 0.06 carats and are all millgrain set which was a popular style during the Art Deco period, and can be seen as the elegant crimping along the edge of the setting.
Complete with its original box from Hardy Brothers, this magnificent opal and diamond ring will always be admired and be a wonderful heirloom to pass down through the family.
