Art Deco unheated sapphire & diamond ring

Here is a spectacular Art Deco sapphire and diamond ring that is truly captivating and so unique and special.

Hand made in the Art Deco period of the 1920's, this ring is set with an incredible 9.37 carat Ceylonese sapphire.

Ceylonese sapphires have been regarded for centuries as the best quality sapphire in the world, thanks to the fine blue colour and great transparency that allows you to see right through the sapphire.

However there are 2 more very important features about this particular Ceylonese sapphire.

First its size. This Ceylonese sapphire measures an impressive 9.37 carats and is a cushion cut.

Cushion cut stones are a wonderful antique cut of stone that has somewhat rounded sides like a cushion, hence its name.

Secondly, this Ceylonese sapphire has been certified as being a non-heat treated sapphire.

Centuries ago, people discovered that if you put a sapphire or ruby into a fire it will improve its colour and clarity, and people have been heat treating sapphires and rubies for this reason.

This treatment is worldwide accepted as a normal treatment and not deceiving in any way and is accepted as a standard treatment for sapphires and rubies.

However it is of course wonderful and indeed exciting to own a sapphire that has not gone through any heat treatment, and combined with the fact that this sapphire is well over 5 carats, makes it even harder to find an unheated sapphire of this size.
It is wonderful to think that before this sapphire was cut into its shape, it was already this wonderful blue colour that is so desired.

Then there is the setting of this ring as well.

All hand made in platinum, the design is just extraordinary and looks remarkable on the finger.

On each side there are 10 diamonds, then to make this Art Deco ring even more spectacular, the two side claws on each side are set with 4 diamonds each, making the ring have 32 diamonds in total.

These diamonds total 0.48 carats and the quality and placement of the diamonds is truly captivating.
