Art Deco untreated sapphire and diamond engagement ring

$0.00

Here is such an elegant Art Deco untreated sapphire and diamond engagement ring that has so many wonderful features and qualities to it.

To begin with it was all hand made in 18ct white gold and platinum in the gorgeous hedonistic Art Deco period of the 1920’s. This era created some truly stunning pieces of jewellery, such as this ring here.

And then there is the lovely sapphire in the centre. For centuries people have realised that if you heat a sapphire or ruby, this will permanently its colour and clarity. This has become a worldwide accepted and common practice for sapphires and rubies and should not be confused with synthetic or man-made gemstones. However there is nothing quite like having a sapphire on your finger that has not been heat treated and is as natural as when it came out of the ground.

This untreated sapphire measures 2.15 carats and has such a lovely powder blue colour to it that looks even more amazing set into the pure white colour of the platinum.

Even the claws holding the sapphire are wonderful with the double claws adding that extra level of charm and sophistication to an already very beautiful ring.

And then when you look closely at the setting, not only is there the most elegant detail, but there are also six diamonds that total 0.14 carats and add the right amount of sparkle, without ever taking away from the gorgeous sapphire sitting proudly in the centre.

Not just for an engagement ring, this ring would also suit any other finger or occasion, and regardless the reason for it being on your finger, there is no doubt that it will always be loved, cherished and adored.

A brief history on heat treating sapphires:

Many centuries ago, it was discovered that if you put a sapphire or ruby into a fire it will improve its colour and clarity. Since then, people have been heat treating sapphires and rubies for this very reason, making it an accepted and standard practice. This treatment accepted worldwide as a normal treatment and not deceiving in any way and is the most common treatment for sapphires and rubies, and should not be confused with being synthetic or man made. Heat treated stones are still 100% completely natural, however finding a sapphire that is not heat treated, especially today is so much more of a rarity.
