Demantoid garnets are one of the rarest gemstones in the world and come in a fantastic green colour and here they are set into this magnificent Art Nouveau demantoid garnet and pearl necklace that dates from the late 1800's.
Art Nouveau jewellery from this period is easily characterised by often having an asymmetrical flowing design that can be seen here in this necklace.
Set with five demantoid garnets and twenty one pearls in the main section, there is also a cluster of five more pearls surrounding one more at the top where the chain is connected.
Made in 15ct gold, the colour of the gold has that wonderful antique colour to it and matches so well with the overall appearance and style of the necklace.
Laid out from end to end, the chain which itself is of a lovely unique design, measures 41cm and from the top cluster of pearls to the bottom of the pendant, this section measures 5cm making this the perfect length and proportions to wear all the time and is destined to be commented and admired.
There is nothing quite like genuine Art Nouveau jewellery, and this demantoid garnet and pearl necklace is no exception.
