The Art Nouveau era later from the later part of the 19th Century up until the start of World War One and resulted in some fabulous sensual designs heavily inspired by nature and a wonderful example of that can be seen here in this Art Nouveau diamond locket.
Dating from around 1895 this double sided photo locket was made in 18ct yellow gold and from the scalloped clover shape, to the gorgeous diamond studded profile of a woman, this really is the epitome of the Art Nouveau period.
Measuring 33.5mm wide by 33mm high or 45mm to the top of the bail, both her hair and her neck are adorned with a total of nine diamonds that glisten in the light and inside allows two photos to be kept and worn close to the heart.
This is such a sensual example of Art Nouveau jewellery and as far as lockets go is just as much a charming pendant as it does a locket.
