Here is a fantastic example of Art Nouveau jewellery.
The piece was made by the Blackington Company in America, and dates from the Art Nouveau era of the late 1890's. It is mostly made in gold filled, with gold leaf design on the locket and stars on the chain all added by hand for that extra detail.
The hand made chain measures an impressive 50cm in length, and the photo locket with a pearl and rose and green gold leafs applied to the front measures 6cm from the very top bail, and 3.3cm wide at its widest point and is just delightful to look at. It can so easily be worn on its own, or of course with the necklace.
This is a fantastic example of an antique necklace that can be worn on its own, or with very modern and contempory jewellery at the same time. The entire piece is in excellent condition, and must be tried on as a set to be truly appreciated.
Circa: 1895.
