The Art Nouveau period was only for a relatively short time lasting from the late 1800's to the start of World War One in 1914, however in this brief time Art Nouveau jewellery made its mark and here is a gorgeous Art Nouveau locket that will always be treasured.
Made in sterling silver around 1895, this locket was made in France, the home of Art Nouveau jewellery.
Art Nouveau jewellery is easily characterised by taking much of its inspiration from nature and moving away from the symmetrical designs of Victorian jewellery that coincided at the same time.
Here in this locket, this is easily seen by the not only the pattern itself - two lovely sunflowers on each side, but the way that there is not the typical symmetry found in other styles of jewellery.
The flowers almost seem to move as they have been crafted so well to mimic nature and the locket itself measures 29.5mm across.
Able to hold a photo of someone close and dear to you, this lovely and elegant antique locket is just so charming and sure to be loved.
