The Arts & Crafts movement coincided at the same time as the Art Nouveau era of the late 1800's until the early 1900's and here we have a very charming late 19th century Arts & Crafts era negligee pendant.
A negligee pendant is one that has two parts suspended at the bottom of different lengths as can be seen here, and in this one it is set with amethysts and natural pearls.
It could be equally argued that this is an Art Nouveau piece as both eras not only occurred during the same time, but also had a very naturalistic feel to both, however most Art Nouveau jewellery when set with gemstones would often use either facetted or cabochon cut stones, whereas here there are four pieces of amethyst has just been polished and one cabochon cut amethyst in the centre.
The pearls themselves are also exciting as they are all natural pearls as opposed to cultured pearls and then there is the divine wire work around the polished amethysts.
Made in 9ct rose gold, laid out it measures 43cm from end to end and 6.7cm from the centre cabochon cut amethyst to the bottom of the lower amethyst.
With such a unique look to it, this is such a character filled negligee necklace.
