Here is an exceedingly rare antique pique bracelet from the 19th century that would not only be near on impossible to replace, but is true museum quality.
Pique is tortoiseshell which has been inlayed with gold, silver or both as can be seen in this bracelet. Click here to read an article on pique jewellery:Â https://www.kalmarantiques.com.au/articles/history-of-pique-jewellery/
Due to the nature of material of pique, it obviously can never be reproduced, and as the years go by is becoming harder and harder to find good examples. And then there is the fact that this is a bracelet as opposed to earrings in which they are more often found. Even pique bangles are incredibly rare, however in over 30 years of dealing in antiques, this is the first pique bracelet that we have even come across.
From end to end it measures 27cm and the links themselves measure 19.1mm and the wonderful ball at the end 23.5mm in diameter. This bracelet sits so well on the wrist and thanks to the chocolate brown colour and the gorgeous star designs, this is a truly spectacular bracelet.
A bracelet as rare as this does not come by often, and if this looks and feels as good on your wrist as you would expect it to, then it is one not to let slip past.
