Here is an extremely rare antique pique ring made in the Victorian era that is not only made from a material that is impossible to remake today, but so incredibly hard to find made as a ring.
Pique is tortoiseshell which has been inlayed with gold, silver or both and as can be seen here in this ring, it was inlayed in a wonderful geometric design that mirrors the triangular shape of the top. Often pique jewellery is found in brooches and earrings, however rings are so incredibly hard to find, and even harder to find in good condition which this one is in. Dating from the 1870's, this is such a fabulous ring that will always be a talking point and conversation starter.
The top section measures 27.5 across by 16.2mm high or 35mm from the bottom on the ring to the top, and is a size L 1/2 (US size 6) and being made in tortoiseshell can not be resized, making this as romantic as Cinderella's glass slipper.
So beautiful and so unique, this is an antique ring that is truly like no other.
