The Great Gatsby has been made into 5 movies over the years and of course has just been released again by Baz Luhrmann, and here we have a truly stunning Art Deco era necklace right from the era that looks amazing on the neck and will always be admired and loved.
The Art Deco era was highly influenced by the discoveries in Egypt of ancient tombs and none was more famous than Howard Carter's discovery of Tutankhamen tomb in 1922 resulting in Art Deco jewellery referred to as "Egyptian Revival" such as can be seen in this Art Deco necklace, yet still with the "modern" look that was being achieved in Art Deco jewellery.
Made in France, this necklace dates from the mid-1920's and was made in 18ct yellow gold, and not only is this Art Deco necklace made in a stunning design, but it is also set with a total of 77 natural pearls, and as can be seen there is a series of very elegant draping gold chain that swings magically on the neckline that are also set with a further 12 pearls.
The rich golden yellow colour from the 18ct gold still looks amazing after all these years as is the lustre from the pearls.
We have found that Art Deco jewellery has never gone out of fashion or style and the jewellers in France in this era created some truly spectacular and elegant designs in jewellery such as can be seen in this Art Deco necklace, and the design of the necklace, the way it sits on the neckline, the sweet natural pearls and the 18ct gold all go towards making this a truly unique and spectacular Art Deco necklace certainly in the era of The Great Gatsby and one necklace that will be worn with so much pride.
