The gypsy setting is a when there is a star pattern surrounding the stones in the ring which was created by the jeweller pushing into the gold resulting in not only a star pattern but also a bead to add to the security of the stone. This simple yet elegant feature adds such a beautiful feature to the ring as can be seen here in this lovely sapphire and diamond ring made in 1923.
Made in 18 carat yellow gold, in the centre sit a fine blue sapphire that measures 0.22 carats and has such a pure blue colour to it. Set on each side is a rose cut diamond that total 0.22 carats and add the right amount of sparkle to this ring making it perfect to wear day or night and to any occasion.
With the sapphire and the diamonds set low into the band making it practical to wear all the time, at the top it measures 6.2mm wide at the centre and tapering down towards the back, the top of the ring has a very elegant soft dome to it that is so tactile to touch.
As beautiful and stylish today as when it was made, this is a perfect ring for any occasion.

Gypsy set sapphire and diamond ring made in 1923
This antique gypsy ring is set with a natural blue sapphire and two rose cut diamonds. The rose cut diamond is one of the earliest cuts of diamonds and has a flat bast with the top coming up somewhat similar in appearance to a pyramid.
This antique ring has both the sapphire and the diamonds set with into the band in what is often referred to as “gypsy settingâ€. Often in these antique rings, there is a star pattern surrounding the stone which was created by the jeweller pushing into the metal resulting in not only the pattern but also a bead to add to the security of the stone.
