Magnificent hand engraved antique double sided locket

Here is a truly mgnificent hand engraved antique double sided locket that was made over 130 years ago and is still in exceptional condition and highlights the quality that can be achieved with hand engraving compared to machine engraving or just stamping out a design.

Made in 15 carat gold, the colour of the gold has a such a wonderful warm tone to it and measures 31mm across by 38.8mm or 53.4mm to the very top of the bail for the chain to pass through.

Not only will this easily accommodate two photos inside, but regardless of which way is facing forward, this locket will no doubt always get the admiration that it rightly deserves.

The time needed to hand engrave both sides would have been immense and is a real testament to the quality of workmanship that could be achieved all those years ago. With such a tactile feel to the engraving, the engraving on this locket is as good as you will ever see.

Able to easily be worn on a simple chain or on a wide collar, this antique locket is spectacular and a fine example of jewellery from the Victoria era.
