Collars where popular towards the late Victorian period of the later part of the 1800's and where more often than not made in sterling silver, so it is very rare to find one in gold and even rarer to find one not only with its gold locket, but that locket set with diamonds as we have here with this incredible and very rare 18ct antique diamond collar with the morning glory flower design on each of the links.
Sitting so elegantly on the neckline, this antique collar dates from the 1880's and measures 43cm from end to end, with each link measuring 1.4cm wide. When you feel this collar on your neck or even holding it in the palm of your hand, it feels so lovely and tactile and is just so charming with the morning glory flowers on each link. Representing love or morality in Victorian times, it was just another way to show ones love for another without making it overly public.
Then leading down to the front is not only a very romantic heart shaped padlock connecting both ends, and not only is it displaying the most exquisite details, but there are two more very important features to it.
Firstly it is set with a total of twenty two antique cut diamonds that total an impressive 3.07 carats and really sparkle incredibly. To find an antique collar is rare, but to find on set with diamonds really takes it to another level.
Then secondly turning the padlock over reveals a locket compartment for a photo of a loved on to wear close to your heart.
Once in a while an antique piece of jewellery comes along that is like no other, and this diamond set antique gold collar is really just one of those pieces.
