The Belle Époque era translates from French word meaning "Beautiful Era" and was a style that started in the 1870's and ended at the start of World War One in 1914.
This era coincided with the Art Nouveau era like the Art Nouveau era took a lot of inspiration from nature resulting in lovely feminine designs and style free flowing styles.
However the main difference between the two styles is that although many Art Nouveau jewellery will use gold and diamonds for example, many Art Nouveau era jewellery will also use silver and semi-precious stones, whereas Belle Époque jewellery was more extravagant with the use of gold, platinum, and precious gemstones such as diamonds and rubies as can be seen here in this amazing Belle Époque era ring
The ring is just fantastic in its design and looks amazing on the finger, and is set with both rubies and diamonds in a very elegant design in the form of flower petals with a central ruby.
All hand made in platinum and 18ct yellow gold, the ring is set with a total of 28 rose cut diamonds and 7 natural rubies.
The total weight of the diamonds is 0.22 carats and the rubies 0.25 carats.
From left to right the ring measures 14mm across at its widest part including the petals off to the side at the centre by 21.7mm from top to bottom
To further enhance the look of this ring, the band is so elegant with a split design that adds to the open work appeal.
This is a truly remarkable antique ring that looks sensational on the finger and will always be admired.
