Here is a truly exception antique music box that was made in the Georgian era in 1816 that has been serviced and sounds as beautiful today as when it was made over 200 years ago.
Made in sterling silver, it is astonishing to consider that this was made two centuries ago and not only looks and feels so beautiful to hold, but is just as beautiful to listen to.
With a gorgeous tune, it is simply astonishing to think that all of this was made all those years ago, and still works today.
The solid sterling silver case was made by the silversmith company Lea & Clark which was founded by William Lea and Francis Clark in 1811 and measures 7cm by 4.5cm by 1.8cm high, turning the case over reveals a hole for winding the movement as well as a discreet slide button to turn the music on or off.
When this was made, this would not have been an inexpensive piece, rather something quite important for a well to do family to show off with pride on those special occasions. If this piece could talk, no doubt what wonderful stories it could tell.
In full working order, this is a truly exceptional Georgian music box that will still astound all who see and hear it.
