Besides vintage Rolex sport models such as the Submariner and Daytona, vintage Rolex watches, specifically the Rolex 1600 series of watches have become so collectable and sought after in recent years, and here is a fantastic vintage Rolex 1603 dating from 1964, and fitted with the earlier Rolex pie-pan dial with Rolex leaf hands.
With vintage Rolex watches, it is so often all about the dial and this one ticks all the right boxes. To begin with it has the pie-pan dial which is one that is flat until the edge where it then inverts down. Sought after on Omega's as well, this subtle but distinct feature was only seen on earlier Rolex models such as this, and all other subsequent models have flat dials all the way to the edge.
Fitted with Rolex leaf hands that are also known as alpha hands, these differ to later hands that instead of being straight, they have an elegant point to them. And finally this is a Tritium dial which can be seen by the designation of the "T Swiss T" at the bottom of the dial.
Inside the case back is also marked with the date designation on the back of the watch case which was done for a short period of time, and stamped "IV 64" meaning that is was made in the 4th quarter of 1964 which matches up perfectly with the serial number dating it also to 1964.
Fitted with the stainless steel bezel and on the Rolex Jubilee band, inside is the highly regarded 26 jewelled automatic Rolex calibre 1560 which has just undergone a full service, runs perfect and comes with our twelve month warranty.
With subtle differences to later Rolex 1600's, this vintage Rolex ticks so many boxes for a great watch that will keep looking better and better as the years go by.
